FAQ / Rulings

The BLT program has made rulings and answered questions pertaining to the BLT rules. We felt it would provide a better understanding of our rules if we posted the answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and explained the logic of our rulings. If you have any questions about our rules please contact the TD listed on the division page you are interested in fishing.

1) Q. Can BLT contestants substitute team partners or change team partners and still accumulate YTD weight and number of tournaments fished as a team?
1) A. No. Once a team has fished together the team may not substitute partners to accumulate points toward Championship qualification or AOY rankings.

2) Q. Can a BLT contestant fish with different anglers in the same division?
2) A. Yes. However, YTD weight accumulations and # of tournaments fished as a team can only accumulate with the same team members.

3) Q. If I change partners can I go back and accumulate weights and numbers of tournaments fished with my original partner or do the same if I continue to fish with a new partner?
3) A. Yes. Records are kept by teams and may be accumulated by team.

4) Q. If I fish by myself will this count toward a team?
4) A. Yes.  An angler may fish alone and add a partner or may fish alone after the team is formed. However, both  team members cannot  fish alone or with different partners in the same division tournament, if they want their points to accumulate.

5) Q. If a team splits up, what happens if both members want to continue fishing in the same division but not together as a team?
5) A. The BLT program cannot allow both team members to become two separate teams with the accumulated points moving to both teams. This situation would create two new teams. If only one team member wanted to represent the team, the points would accumulate.

6) Q. Can BLT anglers fish in the Lake Tawakoni “S.R.A. cove” that has been designated as a no fishing area?
6) A. No. This would violate a local law or rule set by the S.R.A.

7) Q. Can BLT anglers use the 25 yard distance rule to restricted access in the coves, canals or other small passage ways to other anglers?
7) A. No. If there are fishable areas beyond 25 yards from any boat all anglers have the right to come within 25 yards to pass by. This rule is meant to prevent anglers from fishing within 25 yards of another boat. It is not meant to allow anglers to block off fishable areas. Good sportsmanship should be used when going by someone within 25 yards of their boat.

8) Q. If I entered a BLT tournament, can I fish in other tournaments on the same day on the same lake?
8) A. Yes. However, all BLT rules must be followed. BLT anglers must notify the TD or tournament official to have the fish weighed in early or released back to the anglers to be weighed in at the other tournament.
